No, it’s not your beautiful turns-of-phrase or how you set a scene several layers deep or ability to evoke a sentiment, although you do all of that expertly. It’s that you include the ‘slant of sunlight’ which I believe you will find in every great writer’s work. I don’t believe I have read a novel that I thought was terrific that didn’t include this stroke of the pen.
